There are two main characters in this novel. Andrew and Evie who are twins. Their mom just left them mysteriously and they moved into a new town because their dad is in the military.

Andrew is eleven years old, he is very outgoing and likes to explore the streets whenever he moves into a new town. He likes to play little jokes on his sister and hopes to freak her out in the process, but it never seems to work.

Evie is also eleven years. She keeps to herself and is very smart. She likes to outsmart her brother Andrew and it seems to work. She is very adventurous but always knows when to stop when somethings going to far.

There are some flaws that these characters have. Andrew does not mind his own business. He doesn't think too much before he does stuff. For example, he rode his bike on a strangers grass and laid it down just to smell a flower. He should of known that you shouldn't do that. Evie on the other hand knows whats right and wrong but she sometimes doesn't put enough care into what is being said.

Introduction.

The book starts with a flash back to the past. The main characters Evie and Andrew are twins. They wake up on the eleventh day of the eleventh month when they turn eleven years old. Andrew tries to pull a prank on Evie by putting a fake bloody skull in her bed, this doesn't fool Evie. She barges out of her room to find Andrew creeping there waiting to hear her scream. After he gets caught he quickly runs down stairs as if he never did anything. He finds a letter on the table from his mom, when Evie comes downstairs she notices his hands shaking and gives her the letter saying she loves them and doesn't know when she will be seeing them again.

Their dad who is in the military gets posted around a lot and they are now in a new town. Andrew and Evie ride their bikes around town to get to know the streets. They meet their neighbour who lives in a house that is unlike any other on the street. She yells at Andrew because he was being nosey and smelling her plants. They scurry home to discover a mysterious shoe box on the front door step addressed to them. They think its from uncle Frank because he normally sends gifts when they move into new houses.
